Rivers back Uh, ... pardon? Note: we get this question more than you would think.. Camper Size Maximum length camper is 35 feet. We take credit cards, and cash only. Sorry no personal checks. Either is just fine! Camping is the freedom to explore! Isn't this fun? Stop Raining? It always has before. Note: See "Fair Weather Guarantee"
Cell phone towers are often located on top of major malls. Actually, if you try several locations in the campground, you may find a spot that works fairly well. The units installed in cars are most powerful, the hand held ones usually receive ok, but your voice tends to be really scratchy to the person you are calling, with the towers so far away. Safe River? NO! Please remember this is a natural river, not a Disney ride. So depending on the water level it can range from easy flowing, calm, almost boring to fast flowing rapids and downright scary. All depends on rainfall- which means it can change day to day. It's up to you to make the determination- for you and your children. (See Swimming hole- next.) Swimming Hole Located adjacent to the campground is an excellent old fashioned swimming hole. Its approximately 20 feet deep year round and many brave (foolhardy) folks jump off the rock ledges into the river. This can be seen from the bridge at the entrance to the campground. There is a beach area within the campground proper near the entrance, (look on your map) where the water is usually shallow and appropriate for the littler folk. There is no lifeguard so obviously children must be watched carefully at all times. Remember this is a natural river and must be respected at all times. Petiquette He's your best friend! He's always happy to see you. He eagerly listens when you discuss your day. He fetches your slippers or at least the stick you toss. He protects your family and possessions. He may even jog with you. He loves to camp as much as your kids do. How can you leave him home when the family goes camping in the great outdoors?! If this is how you feel about your dog (or cat), you're not alone. Last year over 17% of our campers brought their pets to White River Valley. While we fully understand how much you love your pet, I'm writing to remind you how disturbing it can be for other campers when a pet owner does not follow the simple rules of Pet Etiquette. A barking dog left alone on a nearby site, an unknown and unleashed dog running through your site, or stepping in it. Any of these can turn animal lovers into something else.. We ask each camper upon arrival if they have a pet, if the answer is yes, we request they abide by these three rules of common courtesy:
We want to provide an enjoyable camping experience for all our guests, pet owners and non- pet owners alike. We greatly appreciate your help! Fishing Licenses Available at Locust Creek Outfitters, about 2 miles from the campground. The wardens routinely patrol and always ask to see your license, so have it with you at all times. Kids 14 and under do not need a license. Trout abounds; Browns, Brooks, Rainbow. You can also buy bait, (worms and nightcrawlers) at Locust Creek. Some limited fishing gear is available at the camp store. Ice, wood, etc.? Sure, we carry all sorts of things in our store, in addition to ice and wood. Snacks, camping supplies, hats, shirts, wine, beer, ice cream, mantles (you're campers- you know what that is) - a little bit of everything. Canoe, Tube? Normally, in the Spring, the river will be high enough to canoe and kayak. During the Summer the level usually falls and it's about right for tubing. However, you can't count on anything! As noted above- (Is the River safe? - NO) it all depends on rainfall- so there's really no telling. Even if you call, it'll only help a little. What is a raging current to one person is merely a trickle to someone else. Besides, it might rain that weekend.. |
